Looking for the best instant personal loan app in India? Start with safety, total cost and suitability—not the fastest promise. This guide explains how to compare lenders, Key Fact Statements, eligibility, privacy and permissions, and where NIRA fits.

How to tell whether a loan app is legitimate

A trustworthy loan app should make it easy to identify the regulated lender behind the loan and understand the complete cost before you accept an offer.

  • Check the lender. The app may be a bank or RBI-registered NBFC, or it may operate as a Loan Service Provider (LSP) for regulated lenders. Your loan agreement and Key Fact Statement should name the lender that is sanctioning your loan.

  • Read the Key Fact Statement. The KFS should show the APR, processing fee, repayment schedule, total amount payable and other applicable charges.

  • Look for clear support and grievance channels. A legitimate service should publish customer support details and explain how to escalate a complaint to the lender.

  • Review permissions before you consent. The app should explain what information it requests, why it is needed and how you can withdraw consent where applicable.

What to compare before you apply

APR and total cost. A monthly interest rate alone does not show the full cost of borrowing. Compare the APR and total repayment amount in the KFS, including processing fees and taxes.

Loan amount and repayment period. Choose an amount and EMI that fit your budget. NIRA's current Google Play disclosure lists loans from ₹5,000 to ₹1,00,000 and repayment periods from 91 days to 24 months. The amount, tenure and pricing available to you depend on the lending partner, your profile and the final offer shown in your KFS.

Eligibility. NIRA facilitates personal loans for salaried applicants. Eligibility is assessed by the relevant lending partner and may consider income, existing obligations, credit history, location, employment details and the documents provided. Completing an application does not guarantee approval.

Fees and repayment rules. Check the processing fee, prepayment conditions, late-payment charges and any bank bounce charges before accepting a loan. Always rely on your own KFS and loan agreement for the terms that apply to you.

Where NIRA fits

NIRA is operated by Shuhari Tech Ventures Private Limited and acts as an LSP that facilitates loans from RBI-regulated NBFC and bank partners. NIRA does not itself sanction every loan. The regulated lender responsible for your offer is disclosed during the application journey and in your loan documents.

NIRA's lending partners and their policies can change. You can review NIRA's current partner information, then confirm the lender named in your KFS before accepting an offer.

Privacy and app permissions

Privacy deserves the same attention as price. NIRA's current Privacy Policy states that the app does not access your device's contact list. It also states that, with consent, NIRA may process transactional SMS data to assess cash flow and spending patterns; personal messages, OTPs and sensitive account details are filtered out and not stored.

The policy also explains that camera, microphone or location access may be requested for specific onboarding or KYC steps with explicit consent. Review the permission prompt and the NIRA Privacy Policy before continuing.

How to compare NIRA with other loan apps

Whether you are considering NIRA, KreditBee, CASHe, Navi, Bajaj Finserv or another provider, use the same checklist:

  • Who is the regulated lender for this specific offer?

  • What are the APR, fees and total repayment amount in the KFS?

  • Can you comfortably repay every EMI on time?

  • What happens if you repay early or miss a payment?

  • Which permissions and financial data does the app request?

  • Are support and grievance details easy to find?

No app is universally best for every borrower. The right choice depends on the offer you receive, the total cost, your repayment capacity and your comfort with the service's data practices.

Frequently asked questions

Is NIRA RBI approved?

RBI does not “approve” loan apps in the way this phrase is often used. NIRA operates as an LSP and facilitates loans from regulated banks and NBFC partners. Check the lender named in your KFS and loan agreement.

What interest rate does NIRA charge?

Pricing is lender- and applicant-dependent. NIRA's current Google Play disclosure lists an APR range of 24% to 36%, but your KFS is the definitive source for your APR, fees and total repayment amount.

Can I get a NIRA loan with a low or no CIBIL score?

A low or limited credit history does not guarantee either approval or rejection. The relevant lending partner evaluates your application using its current credit policy, the information you provide and available credit and financial data.

Does NIRA access contacts, SMS or call logs?

NIRA's current Privacy Policy says it does not access your contact list. It discloses processing of transactional SMS data with consent and says personal messages and OTPs are filtered out and not stored. The policy does not describe contact-list or call-log access as part of the current process.

Ready to check your eligibility?

Download NIRA from Google Play to view available offers. Approval, loan amount, tenure, APR and fees depend on eligibility and the lending partner. Please review your KFS and loan agreement before accepting any offer.
